GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. ? More than a dozen children and adults from Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Ocala were involved in a traffic accident Friday afternoon in which one church bus rear-ended another, according to a law enforcement official from the area.

Cpl. Jake Smith, a spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department, said his agency received a call about the crash at 1:15 p.m.

Smith said two buses and a pickup truck towing a trailer that contained luggage all were traveling on Interstate 85, roughly 20 miles northeast of Atlanta, when traffic began slowing down for debris that was in the highway.

The spokesman said one of the church buses rear-ended another church bus, which pushed it into the pickup truck that was hauling the trailer.

More than 15 adults and children who were traveling in the vehicles reportedly suffered minor injuries ? none of which were life-threatening, Smith said.

Roughly 30 others who were in the traveling party were picked up by another bus, which was provided to them by a chaplain from the GCPD. The bus that picked up the uninjured persons, Smith said, came from the chaplain's church.

Smith said the traveling party was three exits away from their hotel and that they were attending an event in the area.

The spokesman said the driver of the Blessed Trinity bus was cited by law enforcement for following too closely.
